STATUS, SPREAD & AWARENESS…

      HISTORICAL EVOLUTION IN INDIA:

            • Homeopathy entered India in 1839 when Dr. John Martin Honigberger was called to treat Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the ruler of Punjab, for paralysis of vocal cords and oedema.

                  • The Maharaja was relieved of his complaints and in return received valuable rewards and later on was made officer-in-charge of a hospital.

                   • Dr. Honigberger later on went to Calcutta and started practice there. This royal patronage helped the system to have its roots in India.

     MILESTONES OF DEVELOPMENT OF HOMOEOPATHY IN INDIA…

•          1948: Govt. of India constituted Homoeopathic Enquiry Committee (HEC)

•      1949: Homoeopathic Enquiry Committee report presented, whichrecommended constitution of Central Homoeopathy Council

•      1954: Homoeopathic Advisory Committee formed at the Centre, whichadvised the Govt. on all matters pertaining to Homoeopathy including education, research, regulation of practice, pharmacopeias, drug manufacture, hospitals & dispensaries, etc.

•      1955: Special postal cancellation on 10^th April, to commemorate Bicentenary celebration of  birth anniversary of Dr. Hahnemann, the father of Homoeopathy

•      1962: Nomination of Honorary Homoeopathic Advisor to Govt. of India .

•   1962: Formation of Indian Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia Committee

•      1964: Rural Homoeopathic Medical Aid Committee formed

•      1969: Govt. of India established Central Council for Research in Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (CCRIM&H)

•      1973: Homoeopathic Central Council Act passed in the Parliament

•      1974: Formation of Central Council of Homoeopathy to regulate Homoeopathic education and practice

•      1978: CCRIM&H dissolved to form 4 independent research councils, including Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy

POINTS TO NOTE...

      •D/S  Symptoms in the lower 3 layers can be easily be removed by any     Homoeopath.(even who prescribed only on mentals or with physicals)

    •D/S symptoms of 4^th,5^th,6^th stage can’t be  > by wrong or specific prescribers.

     •Lower stage disease symptoms are a result of dynamic disturbance in biochemical reactions, which can be altered easily eitherways.

     •Higher stage D/s symptoms are brought about by a deviation of the genetic code. This can be cured only by a wholistic prescription.

     •7^th layer is virtually a point of ‘no return’. But on prescribing on totality normal functions can be restored,with sensation of ‘well being’,leading to peaceful ,prolonged existence inspite & despite of pathology. These are ‘compensatory cures’. A VERY SHORT DESCRIPTION ABOUT SENSATION METHOD:(FROM DR.SANKARAN’S   OWN EXPLANATION)

         Common sensation  the Vital Sensation as it is something deeper to the mind and body . Vital level is a step deeper than mental state.

        As for example when a person says that he feels jealous or suspicious or expresses something mental and emotional then we might ask him for the experience behind that. He may feel he is being attacked and is frightened. In this way an emotional situation is perceived behind the mental symptom, which is good enough, but if you want to take it one step further you ask him how he experiences the attack.

        At this point you come to the intersection or cross point where the mind and body meet. Here they may have the feeling that something is breaking or burning or twisting. This is the common point between body and mind (The Vital Sensation) and here he will describe his emotional symptoms and physical symptoms in the same terms. This is a very deep level and if you reach this point there is a much better chance of success.

Importance of  the the chief complaint:

            The chief complaint represents the crystallization of the Vital Sensation. Hence it is the best place to locate the Vital Sensation. It is the fountainhead where all the vital phenomena are expressed in their raw form. 

Sensation & reaction:

Patient may express sensation directly or may express the reaction(which is exactly opposite to the sensation) or compensation.

 (e.g) for sensation, reaction &        compensation:

            If the sensation is ‘caught up’ or ‘stuck’ the active reaction will be to want to move, the passive reaction will be being immobile or unable to move, while the compensation will be a person who is always on the move.
             The modalities essentially speak the same language as the sensation.       For example, if the sensation is of being caught the modality is better from movement. If the sensation is of being tightened the modality is better by loosening. In this way the modalities will also confirm the sensation.

   Dreams ,fears ,hobbies all has the same sensation. we can confirm the sensation by enquiring all those things.

 CLASSIFICATION  OF KINGDOM BY    VITAL SENSATION:

RAJAN’S CONCEPT OF MIASM:

         The intensity, pace and depth of this sensation or how he copes with it indicate the miasm. 

          The miasm is the other component in the disease. So the disease has two components, viz. the type of the sensation and the depth of the sensation. The sensation and miasm together give the remedy.

Acute miasm:
       The feeling is of an acute threat and the reaction is strong and instinctive.Some remedies: Aconitum, Belladonna, Stramonium, Veratrum-album, Arnica, Croton-tig, Chocolate
Note: I had earlier classified Hyoscyamus as belonging to the acute miasm. With my further work on miasms I classified it as a typhoid miasm remedy.

Sensation: Sudden, intense, acute, violent threat to life.

Reaction: Violent, instinctive, strong , urgent.

Depth: Acute, critical.

Degree of desperation: Do or die! Critical

Pace: Sudden, rapid, violent.

Pattern: Comes suddenly, last short time, ends suddenly, either in death or recovery.

Attitude of the patient: Childlike, instinctive, violent.

LEVELS IN CASETAKING:

                  These seven levels are:

Level 1

Diagnosis, Pathology
To prescribe on the pathology. If a patient has enlarged prostrate then give him Sabal Serulata or if has an enlarged liver then give him Cardus Marinus

Level 2

Local symptoms, Location, Modalities, Sensations
Practice at levels of symptom. If patient complains of congestion in chest, aggravated by movement then give Bryonia.

Level 3

Feelings, Concomitants, i.e. General effects of the Local symptoms.
Practise at level of emotions. If a patient has disappointment in love then give Ignatia or Natrum Mur.

Level 4

Delusions, N E I, Cravings, Sleep, General modalities
From the level of emotions I studied more deeper to the level of delusions. If a patient has fear of dark, ask him, so how do you feel like in dark?
I feel I am in a dangerous jungle in which there are animals, which will get me, and you give Stramonium.
So you are prescribing on imaginations, which seemed to me the deepest level earlier. Though the success rate increased drastically, but obviously that was not deep enough the level because there were still many failures.

Level 5

General sensations and affections.
Then came the idea of plants. In plants we couldn't connect the idea with remedies from same family just based on the mind symptoms. I couldn't find connection between Pulsatilla and Staphysagria, etc there had to be another level to make this connection and that was the sensation.

Level 6

General movements and patterns

But if we have failure even after that we have to look at one level deeper that is energy and that is what we should focus on now.

The Energy level is non-specific for kingdom and not specific for remedy, which means if you understand the energy pattern of a remedy, then that energy pattern is not just specific for that remedy only.

     The energy pattern is not giving us the remedy but if you touch the energy then the sensation becomes very sharp and clear and everything opens up in the case.

THE REMEDY LIES AT THE LEVEL OF SENSATION..

NON-HUMAN SPECIFICS  IN CASE TAKING:

      In every level you will find nonhuman specific words or gestures. But at the level of sensation and energy, you will find ONLY that. At this level it is completely devoid of all human expression.Then it is most clearly visible, with complete clarity and completely exposedwithout any human clothes on it.

When we ask, what is your problem?
The patient says, he experiences some kind of sharp pain in his chest.
Sharp is not human specific.
A human being should not have to deal with sharp.
Sharp can be anything that is sharp.

    If u enquire more about sharp  without using what the patient is not used you can get more non-specific human words & enquiry of this will lead to the sensation which is the core of the patient.

Proof of any method is success of that method. Many  successful cases are given in his books.

   Before talking about  Dr.Amar d nikam  i would like to put few questions before you...

           IS HOMOEOPATHIC HOSPITAL IS POSSIBLE???With out injection, saline, ICU/CCU,Surgery!!!!!

(e.g) we consider merc.,as a syphilitic drug. It represents 35% syphilitic d/s,25% sycotis d/s,25% tubercular &15 %psoric..so merc can cured even psoric ,sycotic, tubercular states if symptoms corresponds to the medicine.

ABOUT  PREDICTIVE   HOMOEOPATHY...

                   Dr.Vijayakar  happens to be the 1^st  homoeopathic physician in the world to have gone in the depth of embryology & tapped the significance of Hering’s law.

SUCCESSFUL PRESCRIBING... 

               It is common difficulties for the beginners and practitioners that what should be given importance to while taking a case. There are different homeopaths with different approach.

 1) view a case from its pathology

2) Consideration of the mind only, details of the person

3) The physicals of the person

4) Characteristics / PQRS in a case

Again it is observed that the totality contains an alternating image, or one set of symptoms at one time and a different set another time. The prescriber’s view may be formed from one group today and from another after the change, which leads to change of remedy with every shift, but at the end of the year the patient has grow steadily worse. Yet he has cured (?) Each group of symptoms of his patient satisfactory.

Even there are various school which promoters different way of practice. Every homeopath or school talks of

(a) how well to take a case

 (b) how to analyze

(c) what to prescribe?

      Very few talk about the process of cure; few are concerned with the follow-up, analysis of the case. If every one with different approach talks about cure, then what is cure? Who of them are right or wrong homeopath? How will you judge the cure?

Only the follow-up of a case tells! What one has to see in the follow up are again great difficulties? It is rightly said, “eyes do not see, until mind perceives”. If a person visits a painting exhibition and if he is unaware of what is to be seen in painting, he will not understand the beauty or mistake of that painting.

Same way, if we know what one has to perceive in follow-up he can a avoid a mistake of careless prescribing, know the right direction of cure and be sure that he has given right or wrong remedy.

Three things are very important in follow-up: -   

A)              Proof of similimum :-

  Cure is reaction of the vital force against the rightly chosen remedy the cure take place. If a right homeopathic stimulus is given it works in few minutes.•1st thing to see in general sense of well being: Patient takes interest in surrounding, he has desired to read, eat, and study.•2nd thing is disappearance of weakness•3rd thing appetite, sleep improved•4th thing constipation has to improve.

     This is very important, to be healthy our body has to eliminate waste products, clear the toxins in the form of stools, urine and perspiration.•5th thing increase in tolerance to aggravating factors example cold food, drinks, dust.•6th thing decrease in sensitivity to rudeness, offense•7th thing disappearance of pain and also disappearance of symptoms by hering’s law of cure.

B) Hering’s law of cure :-

                                              It is the most important thing to be seen in almost all the cases except in incurable cases where irreversible pathological changes have taken place. Even in such cases compensatory cure can be established.
Example: if a patient is under the treatment of cancer and he gets diabetes, its no problem? Let him leave with diabetes that is his compensatory cure.

Homeopathy is not complete without Hahnemann’s law of similar and hering’s law of cure. It is guiding point to understand the prognosis of patient in disease as wall as cure.

It is interesting to know that hering’s law of cure is based on embryology. (above mentioned chart)The development of embryo, growth and maintenance of human being corresponds to the corollaries of this law of cure. Dr. P. Vijaykar in his book, “theory of suppression” has explained it beautifully.

In fact, one will wonder how intelligent Dr. Hering was. In those time inspite of no microscope or knowledge of embryology in depth he formulated this law which is base of foundation of homeopathy.

C) Chart of suppression :-
Very few homeopaths are aware that homeopathic medicines can also to dangerous suppression?
It is rightly said, “all that glitters is not gold, all symptoms that disappear are not cured”
Every one knows the universal law of thermodynamics.
“Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it has to be transformed from one form to another”.
Universe is a bundle of energy and we are part of it. This law is even applicable to disease, energy and functioning of human body. Disease doesn’t disappear. It is produced in body because of disturbance in this energy. How can it disappear? It has to be transformed. Disturbing energy or force has to be seen in some form i.e. More important organs to less important organs and from center to periphery in the process of cure.

On the basis of hering’s law of cure Dr. Vijaykar has formed this seven-layer chart of suppression. This chart can then be used productively like a compass to gauze the direction of law of cure. This chart will help us to understand what path diseases take in the organs and systems in the mathematical progress of diseases. It can predict what is going to happen after right or wrong homeopathic stimulus.

It is important to remember that a real sense of well being is always accompanied by disappearance of physical symptoms in the right order. It is one of the best means of ascertaining which is the most important prescription is curative or suppressive. It will give definite guideline as to which is the most important organ and which is less important organ.

If patient is taking treatment for acidity, and he gets urinary tract or backache? If he is under treatment of asthma, he gets psoriasis? Whether it is right or wrong? Is it suppression or cure?
To achieve gentle cure it is important to give right constitutional similimum. How to arrive at this? This can be achieved if possession of human being. We as a homeopath doctor are dealing with the most valuable possession of human being i.e. Life. We have no right to play with it on the basis of speculation and theories. Homeopath as is wrongly believed is not just a symptom reliever. He treats, “man in diseases and not disease in men”. He is more like a consultant than a general practitioner treating cold is, cough and acidity.

If we are treating man as a whole we have to understand the internal mechanism of man.

It is necessary to understand.

What happens in cure? --------------------------- Immunology
How he is different from others? --------- Genetics

Proper understanding and knowledge of all these sciences can help us to know human being and treat him with any kind of diseases even if it is diabetes, cancer, thyroid, Parkinson’s etc.

Now the science has advanced so much that we are fortunate to understand every mechanism of man. 200 years back dr. Hahnemann said in his book of “the chronic diseases” preface to volume 4th that, “we have no means of reaching with our senses or of gaining essential knowledge as to the process of life in the interior of man…”“Therefore we have to draw speculative conclusions … As to the manner in which it may have occurred or taken place, that we are unable to furnish conclusive proof of our explanation…” Dr. Hahnemann confessed that he was helpless because of the absence of the advanced “human related” medical sciences such as genetics, embryology, immunology etc.
In fact, we are fortunate enough to have the knowledge f these sciences to help us to reach in the interior of man for treating man. These sciences are foundation, direction for analyzing progression of cases.

There is a fathomless chasm existing between homeopathic principles and science.
